Karen Healey Stables' Tammy Chipko and All That Win WCHR National Championship

Upper Marlboro, MD - October 1, 2008
Karen Healey Stables continued winning at the second part of the Capital Challenge Horse Show, held September 29-October 5, 2008. Tammy Chipko of Westlake Village, CA, rode All That to the Amateur-Owner Over 35 reserve championship. Through her top ribbons at Capital Challenge, Chipko won the World Champion Hunter Rider National Championship in the amateur division.

Chipko and All That started off the Amateur-Owner Over 35 division with second and fourth places over fences on the first day. On the second day, they added second and sixth place ribbons. Their consistency garnered them the reserve championship in the division.

Chipko and All That also competed in the WCHR Amateur Challenge, where they placed third. Chipko rode in the hunter division with her other horse Amnesty, who picked up two seventh place ribbons in a very difficult division of over 40 top amateur horses. "I was really proud of Amnesty," Chipko said. "It was her first year indoors, and I didn't know what to expect. She was great."

This was the second year that Chipko has shown at Capital Challenge with All That. "He's always fabulous," Chipko remarked. "That was the toughest competition we have ever shown against. We scored a 90 in one class and were still in second place! Even to get a ribbon is pretty remarkable. I couldn't have asked him to go any better than he did."

Regarding her first WCHR National Championship, Chipko said, "I've never won anything like that. It was neck and neck to the wire in points. They do a super job with the prizes and presentations through the WCHR at Capital Challenge. They gave my groom, Herman Garcia, a check for $500. He was so excited, and I couldn't do this without him."

Chipko said that winning the WCHR National Championship was a "year-long goal." She added, "It's the first year that I have ever gone after points for something like this. It was fun to end up on top of the standings, and it made it all worth it."

Karen Healey Stables will compete next at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on October 9-18, 2008
