Shelby Wakeman of Karen Healey Stables Sweeps Older Junior Hunters at HITS Desert Circuit VI

Thermal, CA - March 12, 2008
Karen Healey Stables competed this past week at the HITS Desert Circuit VI. The successful farm is based in Westlake Village, CA, and led by top trainer Karen Healey. This week, the student won 13 classes in the equitation, hunter, and jumper divisions and took home four tricolor ribbons.

One of the most successful riders of the week was Shelby Wakeman of Westlake Village. She rode Wesley for the championship in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters. Wesley is owned by Ashley Pryde and trained by Archie Cox. The talented gelding and Wakeman won two over fences classes in the division and were second and third in the remaining jumping classes. They were third under saddle.

Wakeman also won the championship in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters on Pryde's second horse Truly. They won two classes and were second in two classes over fences, and they were sixth under saddle.

The reserve championship in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters went to Sin City, ridden by Tina DiLandri, owned by Kelly Straeter, and trained by Mary Gatti. They were first and fifth over fences and they won the under saddle class.

Also in the hunter ring was Tammy Chipko of Westlake Village. She and All That were second in the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic and she received top ribbons in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters with Amnesty.

In the equitation ring, riders from Karen Healey Stables were very successful. Wakeman won the USEF Junior Medal, while Carly Anthony was third and Samantha Harrison was fourth.

Anthony, of Redmond, WA, won the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, Hannah Selleck was third, and Natasha Traurig was fourth. Anthony took the championship in the Equitation 16-17 division after finishing first, second, and second. Anthony won another class in the ASPCA Maclay, while Samantha Harrison was fourth. Anthony's fourth win came in the WCE Junior/Amateur Medal class. Hannah Bibb was third and Elizabeth Dickinson of Los Angeles was fourth.

In the WIHS Equitation class, Tina DiLandri took the blue ribbon. Wakeman, who scored a 92 in the jumper phase, was second overall. Harrison was fourth, Anthony was fifth, and Jocelyn Neff of Newport Beach was seventh.

Samantha Harrison of La Canada, CA, won the CPHA Medal class, while Selleck, of Thousand Oaks, CA, was second in the Marshall and Sterling Adult Medal.

Hannah Bibb took top ribbons in the Central Equine Medal (third) and CPHA Foundation class (fifth). Kristi Siam finished fourth in the PCHA Adult Medal.

In the jumpers, Jocelyn Neff and her horse Golden Flip finished second in the Low Junior Jumper Classic and fourth in a class in the division. Carol Bird was second in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumpers on Mambo and seventh in the Modified Amateur Jumper Classic on WC Swing.

Karen Healey Stables will compete next at the HITS Desert Circuit Championship week on March 11-16, 2008.
